Festivals worth planning around
- Kalyady (Christmas–New Year, Dec–mid Jan) — carolling traditions, fairs and lights; the old Kalyady Tsars ritual in Semezhava is on UNESCO's cultural heritage list.
- Maslenitsa (Feb/Mar) — pancake week, the cheerful send-off of winter.
- Kupalle (night of 6–7 July) — the midsummer festival of bonfires, wreaths and fern-flower legends; celebrated across the country.
- Slavianski Bazaar, Vitebsk (July) — one of the biggest music festivals in the region, in Chagall's home town.
- City days & harvest fairs (Sep–Oct) — nearly every town throws one; expect folk costume, craft markets and a lot of food.
